Overview

Village associations are among the least digitised organisations in Turkey. Announcements circulate in WhatsApp groups, wedding dates spread by word of mouth, and dues are tracked in a notebook or on one board member's phone. For members who have moved to the city, that means a slowly weakening tie to the village.

The site brought those three jobs into one place. Wedding notices are published ahead of time with the date, the family and the venue, so a member in the city can plan around them. Obituaries and general announcements are kept in separate feeds — deliberately not mixed into one list.

Dues tracking was built so members can check for themselves: a member signs in with their national ID number and phone, and sees their payment status. That removes the board's monthly burden of calling everyone one by one.

On the management side there is a separate admin login; announcements, weddings, obituaries and dues records are all handled from the panel without technical support. The site also carries sections introducing the village and the association's story since it was founded in 1995.

Highlights

  • Self-service dues status via member login
  • Wedding notices published ahead of time with date, family and venue
  • Obituaries and general announcements kept in separate feeds
  • An admin panel for announcements, notices and dues records
  • Village introduction and association history sections

Objectives

  • Move village announcements from WhatsApp groups to a permanent address
  • Take the dues-tracking burden off the board
  • Keep members who live in the city connected to the village

Solution

  • Member sign-in with national ID number and phone
  • Modelling weddings, obituaries and announcements as separate content types
  • Dues records manageable from the panel
  • Upcoming weddings surfaced on the home page

Approach

  1. 01Mapping the existing announcement and dues flow with the board
  2. 02Building the content types and the member sign-in flow
  3. 03Setting up the admin panel and loading the first content

Outcomes

  • Announcements moved from disappearing messages into a permanent archive
  • Members can check their dues without calling anyone
  • The association reaches its city-based members through a single channel

Challenges

  • A panel simple enough for a non-technical board
  • Building a sign-in flow while protecting sensitive member data
  • Presenting notices such as obituaries with restraint and respect
